No. 1: Chicago Bulls –  Benny the Bull

I knew from the moment I sat down to make this list that Benny would be my top pick. Yes, this is extremely biased, predictable, and also subjective, but you knew the rules when you started reading.

Hear me out!

He’s the first mascot I ever saw at my first ever live NBA game. I’ll leave the conjecture to you to speculate who Chicago was playing, and more importantly which Chicago Bulls roster took the floor that night.

His design is flawless. From his horns to his eyebrows down to the jerseys he rocks from game to game, Benny is the  Benny was always one of the most easily recognizable logos in the league. He is one of the funniest mascots in any encounter.

Benny can dance, dunk, and prank like all the others. Notably, the one thing that separates Benny from everyone else on this list, is swagger.

When taking everything into account. Design, legacy, skill, impact, and entertainment factor, Benny checks every box with great ease. He is without question my favorite mascot. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels the same way.

I think each and every mascot past and present played a role in the progression of the mascot movement. Regardless where you personally rank these mascots, they all have unique qualities that differentiate themselves from the others.
