With the upcoming release of NBA2K20, we get to see how the OKC Thunder player ratings look for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. The ratings suggest they will be a solid squad in the virtual and real world.

OKC Thunder Ratings

The NBA2K series has had its ups and downs over the last 21 installments of the game. Despite some of its shortcomings, it remains unequivocally the best NBA simulation on the market. The latest game of the series 2K20 is touting a brand new my player story and the best gameplay mechanics to date.

As an avid 2K enthusiast myself, I think it is valuable to take a look at the OKC Thunder ratings to examine and infer the potential of the current OKC roster. With a mixture of fresh and familiar faces, the OKC Thunder are looking to make some noise.

The OKC Thunder’s starting lineup features 3 starters being rated above 80. The bench features players rated in the mid to high 70’s. This may not be the second coming of the dream team, but they have the potential for building fantastic chemistry together.

2K typically rewards the players who utilize the entire team, rather than just the star players. To me, the OKC Thunder present the prospects to be a sleeper team in the competitive 2K community.

Rating the Ratings

Although Darius Bazely hasn’t played one minute in the NBA he has the same or a better overall rating than some veterans. We can expect that his rating will improve over the season.

This is a great sign of his potential, also seeing yourself in your favorite video game has to be an exciting experience for him. This is a respectable rating for him.

2K’s rating system has never really been based on empiricism. The only player overall I am concerned with is Chris Paul‘s. In this new iteration of 2K, he’s rated 85 overall.

This is incredibly disrespectful in my opinion. This demotion is most likely due to the dip in his numbers that he sustained in his second season in Houston. Chris Paul was rated 90 overall in 2K18 and 87 overall in 2K19.

His numbers have remained relatively the same. The 3-point decrease in points is designated by the number that his overall numbers dropped to. This proves that 2K’s rating system isn’t as arbitrarily determined as many initially assumed.

I’ve often speculated on how this new OKC Thunder lineup will gel together in the 2019-2020 season. There are multiple variables that play a role in a team’s overall success such as chemistry, cohesiveness, and competence.

These three C’s can be seen in this 2K20 OKC Thunder gameplay captured by Brian Mazique from Bleacher Report. Take note of how well SGA and Chris Paul complement each other on the offensive end. Also, pay attention to the defense.

I honestly can’t wait for the release of NBA2K20, but the game simply makes me wish the season would start right now. Hopefully, the OKC Thunder can dominate the real NBA, identically to how 2Kj plans on dominating the virtual NBA.
