OKC Thunder news is teeming with articles about offseason player efforts and areas individual games can be improved. Today the focus is on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

With the NBA season still over six weeks from tipping off players continue to work on growing their fundamental skill sets hoping to make great leaps this season. For the OKC Thunder roster that should also equate to available opportunities for players who previously fought to get consistent minutes on court.

Although the Thunder enters the season with viable contributors like Chris Paul, Danilo Gallinari, Steven Adams, and Dennis Schroder each could finish the season elsewhere. Rumors will swirl all season regarding trades and their eventual departures. Trades aren’t a certainty, but for the youngsters on the roster, the opportunity is greater than ever before for them to seize a role on the new iteration of the team and carve out their niche on the squad.

Suffice to say, the young players on this roster need to grasp their opportunity to force Sam Presti and Billy Donovan‘s hands. With that in mind, players are working on specific parts of their games to help them take the next step up the ladder.

Shai Gilgeous- Alexander noted the need for him to gain more strength and work on his shooting off the dribble with emphasis on also improving his perimeter shooting.

He’s earmarked as the face and star of the future for the Thunder and the accolades don’t arrive without merit. At every stage of his career, SGA has proven his skeptics wrong always rising to the next level even when his coaches didn’t anticipate it.

There is a good reason why Gilgeous-Alexander was not under consideration when the Pelicans came calling about a potential Anthony Davis trade. But the prospect of losing out on both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George resulted in the Clippers finally relinquishing.

Following up on this young stars efforts this offseason, OKC News takes this edition to focus on articles about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
