Alex Abrines

Coming into the 18-19 season, Alex Abrines was supposed to take another leap forward as potentially the best shooter on the Thunder.

However, things didn’t go as planned. Abrines missed a majority of last season due to an unknown personal matter. It was later revealed that Abrines had been struggling with his mental health throughout the season, causing him to get waived by the OKC Thunder and take a break from basketball (he has since signed with FC Barcelona).

When Abrines played, however, his play was spotty at best. Alex really struggled from the field throughout the season, shooting only 36 percent from the field and 33 percent from three.

On occasion, Abrines would show flashes of shooting excellence. Abrines has a quick release and the ability to shoot it from deep which was a much-needed skill for OKC who has severely lacked players who have high gravity at the 3-point line.

Abrines’ best game of the season came against the Charlotte Hornets, where he caught fire and dropped a career-high 25 points.

Stat line:

  • 11-1-18 at Charlotte: 25 points / 2 rebounds (9-15 overall, 5-10 from three)

Additional Performances:

  • 11-30-18 versus Atlanta: 21 points / 2 rebounds / 1 assist (7-11 overall, 7-11 from three)
