Like the final game of the first round, the German Team collected another victory beating Team Senegal by a score of 89 to 78.
In his fourth game of the FIBA 2019 tournament, Schroder was dynamic leading his team in both scoring (24 points) and dimes (12 assists). Germany won three of the four quarters coming out to take an early 14 to 11 first-quarter lead. They lost the second quarter 22 to 26 to trail 36 to 37 at the half. Following the half time break, the German squad refocused their efforts and won the third quarter 30 to 23 and finished the final frame winning it 23 to 18 for the 89 – 78 victory.
This was Schroder’s best outing of the tournament and his leadership of this National Team is a solid sign of growth the OKC Thunder will undoubtedly look for the backup point guard to display in season.
Four of Dennis’ teammates also registered double-digit scoring efforts as Boston Celtics big man Daniel Theis scored 14 points as did Johannes Voigtmann. The other players to register in double-digits were Mavericks forward Maxi Kleber (12 points) and Robin Benzing who scored 11 points.
This game for Schroder represented a consecutive back to back double-double offering which again bodes well for the OKC Thunder. A lack of dimes has punctuated the Thunder efforts in recent seasons, so if Schroder can merge his ability to dish dimes back in the Association it will be a very welcome asset.
Next up, the German team will play Team Canada to finish their 2019 FIBA tournament play on September 9th.
