3 new things we learned about the 2019-20 OKC Thunder at media day
Chris Paul entices teammates to switch diets:
Perhaps the most surprising news of Media Day centered around Chris Paul’s switch to a plant-based diet. Or more accurately, the news players like Andre Roberson and others are adopting this diet.
Recalling last season when Paul was dealing with another injury he investigated a change to his diet as one way to help improve his recovery and overall health. What resulted was the point guard learned about all the benefits of going plant-based and obviously he’s preaching about them to his new teammates.
Some obvious gains of a plant-based diet are weight and fat loss, increased cognitive function, and decreased chances of heart disease. But there are big factors for athletes to adopt this diet which specifically help their overall performance and recovery. Lowering cholesterol and saturated fats, for example, helps blood flow which equates to oxygen reaching muscles faster. This diet also lowers free radicals and inflammation which allows for an expedited recovery between performances and a fully rested body lowers the likelihood of injury.
Andre Roberson has already switched over and mentioned in his presser how he views his body differently after going through such a long road to rehab and return to the court. Other players are considering the switch like Terrance Ferguson.
Although it won’t come as much of a surprise that one of CP3’s new teammates is definitely not making the change.
In fact, Steven Adams not only made it clear during his presser he won’t be giving up meat he jokingly said it might become a locker room debate.
Adams who is known to be able to put away quite large meals and is a spokesman for Oklahoma Beef noted the compliment which moved him the most was a fan who thanked him for his love of beef and how it’s helping the local beef farmers.

The big man noted a fan who approached him at Top Golf and told him he was the best thing to happen to the beef industry in Oklahoma. It made a big impression on the Kiwi who was genuinely touched by the sincerity of the compliment.
