Roundtable sessions – How the OKC Thunder capitalize on trades to return to prominence
Which Thunder player gets moved first and if you’re feeling really confident tell us which team that player gets traded to and why.
Tamberlyn Richardson:
Danilo Gallinari will garner considerable trade packages. This isn’t Mirotic who was so suspect on defense the Bucks couldn’t keep him on the court in the Conference Finals. Gallo’s unique skill set features offensive versatility, capable playmaking, the perfect companion to a rim running shot-blocking big. And, he’s gritty with a bit of a mean streak (when you absolutely need it).
Gallo affords clubs role versatility in the new positionless era since he can slot in at either forward spot. Given this reality, there could be six or more legitimate suitors. Giannis Antetokounmpo can always use another spacing sniper. What if Luka and Porzingis ascend faster than anticipated? (Imagine that frontcourt!) Or hey, I’ll always throw out the obvious – “he sure would be great in Pops system”. The latter, of course, would get Danilo to channel Boris Diaw!
And that’s not even bringing up the likely candidates in LA, Southbeach, Beantown or the City of Roses.
Rylan Stiles:
Gallinari
Noah Schulte:
Gallinari. The trade deadline isn’t super far off and when some playoff contender inevitably comes out of the gates with a blown tire, he’ll almost certainly be on Bleacher Report’s “Five Players Who Team X Should be Looking at” list.
Aidan E:
Danilo Gallinari easily gets moved first this year. There should be a lot of offers flowing in for the forward and his talents can definitely help a contending team this season. I don’t feel confident in choosing where he might end up, but I think that the Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat could all get involved in the Gallinari sweepstakes.
Matthew Hallet:
I think that Gallinari gets moved first. He will have the most interest in him from other teams due to the reasons stated above. He will also realize the best return of assets.
Kevon Stewart:
The OKC Thunder should primarily focus on trading CP3 and Nerlens Noel for Gordon Hayward and Enes Kanter. The numbers match up well and both teams will gain something that they are sorely missing. I could see Gallo staying with the team until the deadline where he potentially could be traded for Justice Winslow and Kelly Olnyk. I don’t see any other trade possibilities beyond that.
Tyler Barger:
Gallinari. Any team would love how Gallinari can stretch defenses. If he can go to the 76ers he would be that shooter that they have needed.
