Best one-two punch in the NBA?

Through the preseason when the Lakers had LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the floor together the team looked like potential NBA Champions. They outscored opponents by 31.5 points, registered an offensive efficiency of 122.1 points and held opponents to 90.6 points. Granted this was preseason play, however, this duo will have the advantage in almost every situation.

The old adage of pick your poison applies here and unlike some squads who feature two guards or wings this situation is unique because of LeBron’s ability to play virtually any position.

Size:

Although Vogel seems to be leaning toward starting JaVale McGee both he and Dwight Howard could start and both are over 6’11”. But the entire Lakers starting lineup is huge; one of the largest in the Association. Danny Green who will slot in at the two is 6’6″, James is 6’8″ (dying to see if the forced accuracy report by the NBA ends up revealing James is actually taller), 6’10 Davis plus the point guard. If Vogel elects to get creative and insert 6’9″ Kuzma at the three and move James to the one things get really interesting.

It’s doubtful Vogel begins the season this way, but don’t be surprised if at some point this season we see a James-Green-Kuzma-Davis-McGee lineup.
