Is Devon Hall actually going to play for the OKC Thunder?

Is last year’s OKC Thunder second-round pick Devon Hall actually an NBA player?
Ah, the NBA season, it’s here. Tonight, the Zion-less Pelicans will take on the defending champion Raptors and the first battle for L.A. takes place. Brew the coffee, and let’s start the 82 game race to the finish line that will be filled with buckets, boards, and pettiness, and a ton of sleep deportation for this college scribe that is also balancing a couple of jobs on the side.
With the ball being tipped in the air tonight marking the start of what should be the most interesting NBA season in years, and the OKC Thunder getting underway Wednesday, today marks the final one player one question series. It’s time to go down Devon’s Hall and see if he is truly an NBA player.
This series started with Billy Donovan, then moved to Sam Presti, and since then we have asked one question for every member of the OKC Thunder, including the two-way guys in Lu Dort, and now Devon Hall.
Devon Hall was drafted by the OKC Thunder in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft. The veteran player from Virginia University spent half of last season in the Australian Basketball League, before finishing the year in the G-Leauge with the OKC Blue.
Hall, after being the 53rd overall pick in the 2018 Draft, has yet to make his NBA debut. In my time watching him in the G-League last year, two preseasons, and a pair of summer leagues he has never really looked like an NBA player.

Outside of a shooting display in the final game of this year’s preseason slate against the Memphis Grizzlies, Devon Hall has not even flashed a hint of NBA promise. This year though, he will get his shot.
Hall will spend most of his season across the street at the Cox Convention Center suiting up for the OKC Blue. However, late in the season, if OKC makes a few trades, or starts shutting veterans down, Devon Hall could utilize all 45 days granted in his two-way deal. This is the 22-year old’s best, and lone shot at an NBA career.
Going into the year, I think the answer to this question is simple: No. He may see seven or so games of action like others on two-way deals throughout Thunder history, but he is not an NBA player and Billy Donovan has enough young pups to get playing time this season who are in the future fold for OKC.
