Roundtable Sessions: OKC Thunder and NBA awards segment
Sixth Man of the Year:
Tamberlyn Richardson:
NBA: The Lou Williams award (jokes) is looking good for a three-peat, that said the tendency in the media is to want to reward someone new. Last season the Clippers, Nets, Heat, and Kings reserve units posted the best points per game.
Although there were roster shuffles, for the most part, the bench units remain intact. Given that let’s presume some of the front runners will be LouWill, Montrezl Harrell, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Bogdan Bogdanovic. The Heat are the most interesting of this mix since two rookies could be feasting off the bench (Tyler Herro and Kendrick Nunn). Aside from it being unusual for a rookie to win this award, there is also another member of the roster who has extra motivation to collect the award.
Remember when Dragic raised his gameplay in Phoenix preparing for his next contract and won Most Improved? Well, this season he’ll have that inspiration as well as the knowledge he is going to be on the trade block heading to the deadline.
NBA: Goran Dragic
OKC: Deonte Burton It’s more likely Billy Donovan plays Schroder or another youngster more but I still wanted to give Burton some shine.
Rylan Stiles:
I mean, how do you go against Lou Williams at this point? For the OKC Thunder, I think it really depends on the lineups you think will start the game. If Billy Donovan keeps Terrance Ferguson out of the starting five, as he has this preseason, then the answer is him.
