Luguentz Dort opened the G-League season with a huge game, pushing for promotion to the varsity squad of the OKC Thunder.
In what can only be a good sign for the OKC Thunder, two-way player Luguentz Dort had a huge game on opening night for the OKC Blue against the South Bay Lakers. While being the only two-way player on the squad, Dort dominated the game.
Dort poured in 35 points in just 32 minutes on 12-of-19 shooting, including 4-of-9 from deep. The only blemish on his shooting performance was at the free throw line when Dort went 5-of-9.
Dort also had five rebounds, five assists and a steal in an all-around performance. He dominated the game as shown by having a plus/minus of plus 17 when he was on the court.
Dort missed his first two 3-point attempts on the game but when he made a layup with three and a half minutes gone, he was away. In a game where the OKC Blue led from start to finish, Dort was able to keep the game on his terms.

Dort’s contribution on offense was crucial for the OKC Blue, with fellow two-way player Devon Hall with the varsity squad and Markel Brown not playing there was less talent than usual.
The Blue had OKC Thunder varsity player Justin Patton starting for them at center, but he was not very helpful on offense. He only scored two points early in the first quarter and missed every one of his five shots after that. He was crucial on defense but needs to be stronger on offense if he hopes to get a recall to the main squad.
Dort has another opportunity to showcase his wares next game against the Agua Caliente Clippers who did not show much defense in their 121-120 win over the North Arizona Suns.
