. PG. Oklahoma City Thunder. CHRIS PAUL. A

If you ever want an example of Chris Paul’s competitive nature this game offers up the perfect example. With the Thunder up two as the half came to a close CP3 dribbled out the clock prior to hoisting a step-back 3-pointer to give his side a five-point edge.

At the half, his tally was similar to his typical full game stats as he produced 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals with no turnovers.

By the game end, his final tally was 22 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals with a single turnover.

Clearly, Paul is still not a fan of his former team and his leadership efforts tonight although it won’t result in a “tunnel visit” did point to his angst regarding his former team.

. G/F. Oklahoma City Thunder. SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER. B-

It was one of the few times we’ve witnessed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander force his game. Then again, he wanted to make a statement playing his former team so it’s understandable. SGA averages 2.0 turnovers per game but tonight he had five turnovers which punctuated how much he was pressing. Well, that and the fact the refs kept allowing the Clippers to slap the hands of the Thunder (don’t get me started).

For the most part though he took what the defense gave him and also took advantage of the knowledge gained against his former teammates. On several occasions we witnessed SGA cut off PatBev or LouWill given that advantage.  In fact, Lou Williams was held to 11 points – a bonus in itself.

By night’s end, he registered 11 points, a single assist, and one steal. Not exactly his best offensive performance.

At least this one is in the bank and the next time he plays at Staples Center he won’t be pressing as much.
