The OKC Thunder affiliate the Oklahoma City Blue had a poor end of the week. This saw them slip from second in the Western Conference to seventh. They are still yet to see Markel Brown on the court due to an ankle injury.
The Blue have also been dealing with injuries in their frontcourt with both Myke Henry and Kevin Hervey missing games. However, each game has showcased the talents of players such as OKC Thunder two way player Luguentz Dort, Henry, Hervey, DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell and Sedrick Barefield.
Abdul Gaddy became the only player on the current OKC Blue roster to play more than 50 games for the club and also moved past Jeremy Kelly into fifth all-time in assists for the Blue with 402, now just 26 behind Larry Owens who is in fourth place.
After assigning Devon Hall and Deonte Burton to the G-League for the Westchester Knicks game, the OKC Thunder varsity squad recalled them the very next game. This meant the Blue were left short-handed without Markel Brown as he still recovers from his ankle injury and Kevin Hervey who sat out after injuring his ankle against the Knicks.
Justin Patton, still assigned from the varsity squad, was again a frustration, playing well but fouled out for the third game out of six at least getting to 27 minutes this week, his most playing time for the season.
Bench player Akoon-Purcell is leading the team with 22.3 points per game. Opposition second units cannot find a way to stop the former Denver Nuggets, two-way player.
