New Orleans has fought hard in games and is a team whose record isn’t necessarily indicative of their full potential. Certainly, injuries have played a factor above and beyond Zion Williamson. And, Pelicans fans shouldn’t expect his return in December will be like the arrival of the savior to catapult New Orleans into the postseason.

The goal should be to grow from where they are and put additional focus on improving their defense as that will be the difference (unless they intend on being the West’s version of the Wizards).

To start, improving their 25th ranked opponent field goal percent (47.5 percent) and 24th ranked perimeter defense (37.2 percent) would be a great idea.  Alvin Gentry the exceptional Jrue Holiday as a start and more than enough athletic talent around him to improve this area of the roster’s performance.

Now it’s a matter of keeping everyone healthy enough to get them some run over a period of games.
