Chris Paul has melded into the OKC Thunder so perfectly his leadership is almost visibly dripping off him as he struts the court. This recent run of games where the OKC Thunder have figured out how to close games has CP3’s fingerprints all over the team.
Although he didn’t dish as many dimes as he has in recent outings his 20 points and timely scoring were crucial to the victory. Many thought his age would be a factor and diminish his skill set but Paul is still aggressively defending and snagging steals. Case in point – his team-leading 1.6 steals per game of which he bolstered via three steals versus Portland.
The humorous takeaway from the night was CP3 being called twice for a delay of game and him calling out the ref saying he did it on purpose because of the other night and congratulated him for making Sports Center tonight. (funny).
Paul finished the game with 20 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a rough few quarters shooting but as the Blazers made their push it was the Canadian who locked in and made sure the OKC Thunder kept the lead. His handles were on full display with behind his own back moves and clutch shots in the final frame. He finished with 21 points, nine critical rebounds, and three assists.
SGA is making it so much fun to watch OKC with his change of pace, smooth glides over the hardwood and array of slick moves via his highly developed handle.
No matter what happens with Chris Paul the time he has spent with SGA has been well spent and it’s showing in his overall demeanor on the court.
