Through the quarter pole, the fan base who I feel the worst for is the New Orleans Pelicans. Let me clarify – this club has a bright future and a potential generational talent in Zion Williamson. My empathy stems from the fact the fan base who likely thought they’d be in the mix for a playoff berth not only missed out on early Zion action but have been so devasted by constant injuries they have just six wins on the board and half of those occurred during a three-game mini winning streak.

Since that point, they’ve lost eight in a row.

Unlike the OKC Thunder fanbase who get to be entertained with the team in almost every match the Pelicans regularly lose before clutch time. They’ve played and lost seven games in that scenario and half their wins are by five points or less.

The hope was Pelicans fans could weather the storm, stay close to the chase pack and when Zion returned mid-December be ready to challenge. BUT — now the Pelicans are stating they’ll exercise great caution bringing back Williamson – which is a smart choice to make but likely also means they’re conceding the season.
