The OKC Thunder own clutch time, Chris Paul has ‘it’ and Danilo Gallinari’s defense key to victory. Three takeaways from statement win over Mavericks.

The decade came to a close with the final game of 2019 at the Peake and fittingly it was capped by yet another OKC Thunder clutch time victory.

While there has been statement wins this season by the Thunder this victory ranks among them. The Dallas Mavericks own the top ranked offense in the association possessing a deep roster with a productive bench. Oh– and they have that wunderkid Luka Doncic, who at 20, is only beginning to make what will be an extremely deep mark in the years to come.

Although Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. were out with injury, the Mavericks still possess a very deep squad who’ve navigated injuries about as well as any team this season. Teams aren’t sleeping on the Mavericks who up until back to back losses to the Lakers and Thunder resided in a home court position. By virtue of the losses Dallas falls out of the top four for the first time in weeks to the fifth spot on the ladder.

The match offered plenty of context with the Mavericks getting up by as many as 12 points but were never fully able to pull away from the scrappy Thunder. Although the Thunder played to their habit of poor opening quarters falling behind 32-20 it was the only quarter the Mavericks won.

With that let’s dive into three key takeaways from this very impressive victory.
