There are a handful of teams this season who’ve been absolutely devastated by injury and the Wizards are among them.

The Wizards aren’t going to surprise any team with lockdown defense but the wins they were collecting had to do entirely with their high octane offense. However, that prospect was made all the more difficult with the slew of recent injuries.

Whether Scott Brooks would’ve altered the system with a full roster the continual injuries certainly didn’t help matters.

  • John Wall (Achilles tear) and CJ Miles (wrist surgery) both out for the season.
  • Thomas Bryant (foot – stress reaction) missed 14 games, out until mid-January
  • Moritz Wagner (ankle) missed nine games, out until mid-January
    • These latter two players are the Wizards best big men
  • Rui Hachimura (groin injury) missed seven games, out indefinitely
  • Davis Bertans (quadriceps strain) missed four games, out until mid-January
  • Bradley Beal (lower leg soreness) missed two games, game to game situation
    • The latter three represent the top point producers on the team.

In the case of Beal, the team is likely exercising caution due to his workload plus the likelihood the team won’t vie for one of the lower playoff seeds. Why risk his health given those dynamics.

Week 11 serves up two legitimate top seeds and two teams either currently seeded or in the chase pack (Magic/Blazers).

With the above list of players potentially all out it could easily be a winless sweep week.
