The OKC Thunder continues to exceed expectations with a tight-knit group. A consistent roster may be the key to their future success which is why trading players now may not be the answer.

The OKC Thunder might be one of the best stories so far in the 2019/20 NBA season. Six months ago, the franchise was changed forever when their superstar point guard and the last foundation player Russell Westbrook was traded to the Houston Rockets.

It was obvious that a rebuild would need to happen, however not many predicted that the Thunder would be vying for a place in the postseason or end the decade with the best record in the Western Conference.

The young talent OKC have and the 15 draft picks that will take them through to 2026, have proven that perhaps you can have your cake and eat it too. The Thunder are winning now and are also well-equipped for the future.

When an organization is going through a revamp there are usually always players being traded to other teams to compliment what the franchise already has. The Thunder have a plethora of options.

They can work with who they have currently which look to have a very high ceiling, play the long game and reap the benefits through established players or trade to possibly enhance their chances of being in the playoff discussion.

The Thunder is already in a great position to be successfully led by one of the best guards to play basketball in Chris Paul.

They also have a balanced squad that has no limits to what it can achieve. This brings me to why the OKC Thunder shouldn’t trade before the February 6 deadline.
