Through the ups and downs of the OKC Blue season, the one player demonstrating consistency is the point guard Abdul Gaddy.

Despite having a team whose personnel is fluid thanks to injury and being called up to the varsity squad the OKC Thunder, Abdul Gaddy is having a consistently good season. This was showcased against the Toronto Raptors G-League affiliate the Raptors 905.

Gaddy had a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists to go along with six rebounds. This is pretty close to his season averages of 11.2 points, 8.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds.  The OKC Blue point guard has been doing it all season long.

He is second in the G-League with his 8.3 assists per game. Gaddy actually has dished out the  most assists this season with 196. This is 36 more than Lamar Peters who had 160. On top of this Gaddy is level with  Marquis Teague with 542 assists for second all-time on the OKC Blue. He will pass Daniel Hamilton (578) this season if he remains healthy

While the Blue have been up and down, Gaddy has remained a steady hand throughout. He is in no danger of being called up to the varsity squad despite his solid play. They are simply too well stocked at the point guard with Chris Paul, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dennis Schroder.

More from Thunder News

This is actually beneficial for the OKC Thunder. Both teams run very similar systems and the two teams have had a fairly continuous level of player movement. Luguentz Dort and Kevin Hervey have been called up to the Thunder regularly.

Justin Patton, Hamidou Diallo, Devon Hall and Deonte Burton have all had stints in the G-League. The Thunder have used the Blue to get playing time or to develop them. This is why the point guard, in this case Gaddy is so important. He is responsible for running the systems.

Now that Markel Brown has returned for the Blue and Hall is full time with the team, hopefully, the stability this gives means that the Blue can move up the standings. They have the team to do it. However, it is the varsity squad that should be thankful for the work done by Gaddy.

It is through his work that some of the key bench pieces for the OKC Thunder have got some rhythm back into their game. He is the unsung hero who is allowing Thunder to keep their players in prime readiness for games.
