OKC Thunder: NBA Draft stock up stock down report 5.0
By Rylan Stiles
As the OKC Thunder keeps an active eye on the NBA 2020 Draft class, the stock up stock down report is back, full of disappointments including transfers, fights, and more!
The OKC Thunder, NBA Draft stock up stock down report is back, and this report has a lot of…disappointment. Top prospects from my first big board (which will be updated during the NBA All-Star Break) have fallen completely out of the NBA Draft picture. A huge brawl in Lawrence, Kansas has given the sport “a black eye” and so much more mayhem.
The OKC Thunder holds the rights to two NBA Draft picks in the 2020 NBA Draft if the season ended today. Not only will they have their own pick, but of course they will have the Denver Nuggets selection as well via the Jerami Grant trade.
Given both teams current playoff positions, these will be two later first-round picks, and as more and more reports come out about this being a “weak Draft class” it is even more important to find the diamonds in the rough, and that is what the stock reports will do from here on out.
While I am not one in the camp that claims this NBA Draft class is a weak one, many are. I find it to be a more misunderstood NBA Draft class, or misinterpreted. I think a lot of the rumors coming out of NBA GMs or decision-makers being low on prospects is a direct result of them still viewing themselves as “in the mix” in an NBA landscape that feels wide-open. They want to sell to their fans it is okay if we trade a first-round pick at the deadline, and overpay for a guy because this class is weak anyway.
In actuality, I see quite a bit of talent and upside in this class. Sure, there is not a Luka Doncic, Trae Young, or Zion in this class, but there are still high-level NBA players with big upside.
So let’s get into this bummer of an NBA Draft stock report. Spoiler alert: A lot of down arrows.
