Court Master:

The best statistic to showcase how valuable a player is to his squad is the on-off court statistic. In the case of CP3, his presence on the floor is key to how the Thunder performs.

When he is on the court the team outscores their opponent by 6.8 points. When he sits those numbers plummet to a negative -5.4. That equates to a net differential of 12.2 points. (all per NBA stats)

In those fourth quarters where the team shines Paul’s on-court presence increases to a plus 16.1 and his off-court a negative -1.6. Granted, he doesn’t sit much in the final frame. And while Dennis Schroder and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander boast a slightly better off-court rating in the fourth quarter it’s noteworthy that trio excels because they all are on the court together.

In the one game, Chris Paul missed the season while dealing with his grief over the loss of good friend Kobe Bryant the team struggled. It was a 10-point loss to Dallas. OKC did win the last quarter but only by a single point.
