LiAngelo Ball, who is signed with the OKC Thunder G-League affiliate, is set to join new agency representation

With the OKC Thunder and the NBA world on halt, it does not mean the news stops. On Monday it was reported by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and the Ball family that three-year veteran Lonzo Ball, newly signed OKC Blue guard LiAngelo Ball, and potential first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft LaMelo Ball are signing with a new agency.

All three of the Ball brothers are set to ink deals with Roc Nation, an agency headed up by popular music producer Jay-Z. Roc Nation also represents notable NBA names such as Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Markelle Fultz, The Morris twins, and Spencer Dinwiddie.

This move comes at an interesting time as Lonzo Ball is set for a massive contract extension next summer with the New Orleans Pelicans, after a solid third year in the league.

Before the season was put on pause by the pandemic sweeping the globe, LiAngelo Ball was set to re-start his hoop dreams. After spending most of the year as a practice player for the OKC Blue, the organization officially inked him to a contract for the final ten games of the season. That deal would’ve allowed him to begin playing G-League games, rather than just participating in practice.

As always with the OKC Thunder, they do not let a lot of details get out. It is unclear how long LiAngelo Ball is under the organization’s control.  Given the fact he has signed with a new agency, it does seem clear that he is serious about starting up a potential NBA career.

LaMelo Ball now has representation to guide him through the murky waters of this offseason. While I expect he is the top talent in this year’s draft, there is still debate as to who will go number one overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.

For starters, we are not sure who will own the top pick, and more importantly, we have no idea what the pre-draft process looks like. Each prospect entering this strange offseason will need strong representation.
