OKC Thunder: 35 moments in honor of Chris Paul’s 35th birthday
December 29th at Toronto Raptors:
Regardless of who is on the roster these clubs invariably offer up yearly matches that make the top 10 list. This match was no exception as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned home and Luguentz Dort also got minutes in front of his native country. In fact, four Canadians (Chris Boucher and Oshae Brissett) played in this match.
Despite both clubs missing core members of their roster the game was a highly entertaining back and forth match. Pascal Siakam, Marc Gasol, and Norman Powell were out with injuries for the Raptors while Dennis Schroder and Danilo Gallinari were sidelined for the Thunder.
SGA delivered a historic effort for OKC scoring the most points ever by a Canadian versus the Raptors. Yet, it was Chris Paul who took over the match in the late going to ensure the victory. Although those North of the border felt he carried the ball and traveled without penalty prior to nailing a fall-away jumper we’ll happily take the victory in a tough venue.
CP3 delivered a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds coming just shy of the triple-double with eight assists. In addition, he nailed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter.
