OKC Thunder: Chris Paul praises teammate ‘I love playing with him man’
Chris Paul and Dennis Schroder – an ideal partnership
Despite coming off the bench and playing alongside two extremely capable playmakers in clutch time, Schroder is registering career highs in many areas. His shooting efficiency is a career-best but he’s marrying it with effective drives and scoring with panache. If he doesn’t end up holding the Sixth Man Award at season end — the voters got it wrong.

It’s safe to say Paul is having a profound effect on Schroder and unleashed the German’s full skill set. That’s something Schroder displayed with his National team and TI writers were clamoring for last season.
That both point guards were painted as truculent makes their success and joy of playing with one another all the more satisfying.
This iteration of the Thunder is comprised of youngsters, specialists, and those who often get overlooked as prime time players. The string that ties them all together and makes the engine work is the Point God.
Chris Paul has factored in the Most Valuable Player discussion on several occasions. Yet, his overall effect with this OKC Thunder group is palpable. I agree with the Knuckleheads this could be his most valuable season ever.
Ultimately, Paul could’ve chosen to handle this season in a very different manner. He could’ve forced a trade or simply put in his time.
Instead, he’s embraced his role as captain, mentor, and friend. That he’s experiencing so much joy in the process is a just reward!
