Eastern Teams:

  • Celtics guard Marcus Smart tested positive.
  • The Nets were hit by numerous positive tests including Kevin Durant and three others in the initial tests conducted shortly after the season suspension while Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan, and Taurean Prince produced positive tests when players returned for mandatory workouts in late June.  Brooklyn was one of seven teams to close their practice facilities.
  • Pacers guard Malcolm Brogdon tested positive.
  • Heat dunk master Derrick Jones Jr. tested positive and Miami was among the teams who closed their facilities
  • Milwaukee Bucks closed their practice facility after members of the traveling party tested positive although the team did not disclose how many or if it included any players.
  • 76ers had three unnamed players test positive and also were one of the seven teams to close their practice facilities.
  • Thomas Bryant and Gary Payton II of the Wizards tested positive.

Ironically, the two teams who did not produce any positive tests were the Orlando Magic and the defending champion Toronto Raptors.

The reason it’s ironic is these are two of three teams (Heat) who’ve been in Florida longer than any other squads. Or note, the Raptors conducted their return to mandatory workouts phase in Naples Florida to avoid having to quarantine their players twice due to the Canada-U.S. border restrictions.
