‘Playoff P’ or ‘Playoff Choke’?

And then the big shocker occurred with Paul George being traded to the LA Clippers. Depending on the Paul George version of how he and Leonard arrived at the decision to work together they had either been discussing this for years, talked the summer prior, or talked the week he

requested

demanded a trade. If nothing else, George is adept at spinning yarns.

PG used his guile to full effect in the media session following the choke job the Clippers delivered a week ago today when they lost a series they led 3-1 to the Nuggets. The two-way player told the assembled Zoom media audience ‘I think internally, we always felt this was not a championship or bust year for us.‘. That George kept a straight face during this response cemented what was his best performance of the night.

Yet again, the self-titled ‘Playoff P’ registered a lackluster performance in the closeout game. Late in the match, George put up an uncontested 3-point shot that hit the sideboard.  At night’s end, PG had collected ten points on 4 of 16 from the field, 2 of 11 from deep, and picked up five turnovers.

Not exactly what Clipper Nation was expecting from the star who many cited as a top-10 player, elite two-way player, and was a finalist in both the Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player running one season prior with the OKC Thunder.
