OKC Thunder: Terrance Ferguson season and contract grades
Contract grade
As mentioned earlier, Ferguson has just completed the third season of his four-year rookie scale contract. This season that was worth just $2.4 million which made the fact he regressed not as frustrating.
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
The regression this season is not ideal, however, with only one year left there, it is also not a huge deal. The Thunder can simply let him walk next season if he does not return to his level of play from his second year.
Also67, the fact that he is 22 and has suffered these off-court issues in the second last year of his deal is potentially beneficial moving forward. He should return next season with a greater level of mental strength, which can only be helpful in the grind that is an NBA season.
Contract grade: C+
Season grade.
In terms of his actual season, Ferguson would have been unimpressed by the numbers he posted. Looking at the numbers, every aspect of his game was down from the season before. This would be tough to take for Ferguson due to his competitive nature.
Even with his off-court issues, Ferguson would be the first to grade himself harshly. Without his mitigating circumstances, I would have graded Ferguson a fail for his season.
