NBA 2K21 ratings find Chris Paul with the highest OKC Thunder individual ranking.

Each year gamers anticipate the updated NBA 2K ratings. It evokes debates among fans of specific players and teams who feel obliged to debate placements. For years the OKC Thunder were featured prominently in the top 10 lists given the star power on the squad.

Players occasionally get in the mix of those debates taking umbrage with their placement. A repeat complainer is Paul George who got up in arms in 2019 over his 89 rating and is at it again miffed by his rank of 88 for 2021.

As for the OKC Thunder, this year’s ratings aren’t that surprising considering two superstars were traded in the offseason. The reformulated roster was part of the second tier of teams based on their fifth-place finish in the Western Conference and reflecting their overachieving season.

OKC Thunder NBA 2K ratings

Individual OKC Thunder player ratings:

Each individual receives ratings based on three categories including an overall rank, 3-point rating, and driving dunks. They are represented below with the letters O, T, and D

Top five Thunder players:

Chris Paul: O-88, T-81, D-27
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: O-84, T-78,  D-75
Danilo Gallinari: O-83, T-84, D-75
Steven Adams: O-82, T-26, D-70
Dennis Schroder: O-80, T-82, D-45

While CP3 nabs the highest rating it’s noteworthy that SGA is viewed so optimistically as a sophomore and the overall consistently high rating of Gallo demonstrates just how highly valued he will be as a free agent.

Reserves:

Nerlens Noel: O-76, T-30, D-75
Luguentz Dort: O-74, T-72, D-85
Darius Bazley: O-73, T-76, D-80
Mike Muscala: O-73, T-79, D-60
Andre Roberson: O-72, T-50, D-77
Terrance Ferguson:  O-71, T-72, D-89
Abdel Nader: O-71, T-81, D-70
Hamidou Diallo: O-70, T-50, D-93
Isaiah Roby: O-70, T-73, D-70
Deonte Burton:  O-70, T-60, D-75
Kevin Hervey: O-69, T-70, D-75
Devon Hall:  O-67, T-75, D-65

Positional Ranking:

Diving in a bit deeper here’s where the Thunder players ranked at their specific position in comparison to their peers.

Point Guard: Paul ranks fifth while Schroder ranks 22nd at the point guard position.

Shooting Guard: Four Thunder players are placed in the shooting guard category with Gilgeous-Alexander ranking 10th, Dort 54th, Roberson 75th, and Diallo 92nd.

Small Forward: If Sam Presti bases his draft or free agency period on NBA 2K21 the one position he needs to bolster is small forward which finds Ferguson ranking 75th, Nader 81st, and Burton 88th. Not that this wasn’t already a key positional issue the Thunder were overtly aware of.

Power Forward: Like CP3 and SGA, Gallo lands in the top ten of his position ranking 10th in the category. Bazley lands in the 56th spot of power forwards and has a true reason to complain – – especially when Chandler Parsons (is he still in the league?) is positioned three spots ahead of the youngster in 53rd!

Roby is also entered in this position with an 86th ranking- – again this is a bit questionable since he’s played more of a point-forward role, but it’s not a big debate given he’s more of a positionless player.

Center: Perhaps the most contentious positional category given the rankings are based on the overall rating solely. For example, Serge Ibaka who ranks 80 or better in each of the three sub-categories lands 22nd on the list while each of the 21 players ranked ahead of him fail to hit 80 in at least one subcategory with nine players not reaching 80 in two of the sub-categories.

Adams is one of those nine players and lands 16th while Noel ranks 45th and Muscala ranks 76th among centers.

Missing the cut: Hervey and Hall failed to rank in the top 100 at their position but were right on the periphery.

Top 10 lists:

Again to put in perspective how the OKC Thunder players measure up the best ranking belongs to LeBron James who garnered 98 as the best in the NBA. Joining James in the top 10 overall player ratings are:

Top 10 Players:

  • LeBron James (98)
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo (97)
  • Kawhi Leonard  | James Harden (96)
  • Kevin Durant  | Anthony Davis | Damian Lillard  | Stephen Curry (95)
  • Luka Doncic (94)
  • Jimmy Butler (93)

Top 10 Backcourts:

More from Thunderous Intentions

The top backcourt players find Chris Paul making the grade tying four others in seventh place:

  • James Harden (96)
  • Damian Lillard  | Stephen Curry (95)
  • Luka Doncic (94)
  • Kyrie Irving (90)
  • Klay Thompson (89)
  • Chris Paul | Paul George | Donovan Mitchell | Trae Young (88)

Top 10 Frontcourts:

  • LeBron James (98)
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo (97)
  • Kawhi Leonard  (96)
  • Kevin Durant  | Anthony Davis  (95)
  • Jimmy Butler (93)
  • Joel Embiid (91)
  • Jayson Tatum | Nikola Jokic | Karl-Anthony Towns (90)

In terms of those who’ll take exception to the rankings the fact, Antetokounmpo gets a 3-point ranking of 73 is pretty questionable. Likewise, former OKC Thunder big man Domantas Sabonis should have a bone to pick about being placed behind Zion Williamson especially considering the sample size of each player this past season and how valuable Sabonis was to the Pacers.
