Diving into OKC Thunder NBA 2K21 player attribute ratings in comparison to the top performers by category.

Every year fans and gamers await the release of NBA 2K new listings to discover where their favorite players and teams rank against one another.  This newest iteration held a few surprises for the OKC Thunder as Thunderous Intentions noted in our player and team ranking articles.

While this is a game there are some insights that can be gained by diving into the numbers. Statistics are used by front offices and coaching staffs for a variety of reasons. Assessing team and player strengths, weaknesses, and to explore potential trades for example. NBA 2K isn’t a tool teams would be using however, they have similar categories which are part and parcel of the team and player rankings.

There are 38 attribute sub-categories on NBA 2K21 that are listed alphabetically on the site. I’ve separated them into groups for additional insight into where the OKC Thunder has strengths or conversely is weak and needs to bolster that skillset on the team.

Specifically, I’ve listed the top-ranked individual league-wide, the top-ranked OKC Thunder player as well as those who made the top 100 list.  The exception is the 3-point shooting category given how perimeter focused the league has become.

With that let’s begin with core skillsets.

Attribute top performers:

3-point shooting:

  • Stephen Curry – GSW (99)
  • Klay Thompson  – GSW (95)
  • Duncan Robinson – Heat (92)
  • J.J. Redick – Pelicans – (90)
  • Seth Curry – Mavs | Matt Thomas – Raptors | Derrick Walton Jr. -Free Agent (89)
  • Damian Lillard -Blazers | George Hill -Bucks | Doug McDermott -Pacers | Rodney Hood -Blazers | Jared Dudley -LAL (88)

Danilo Gallinari is the top OKC Thunder player listed in this attribute ranking 38th, however, there are several players with the same score in this sub-category with his rating of 84 tying 21 other players with this score which is the 10th best overall rating in 3-point shooting.

Dennis Schroder ranks 99th with an 82 joining 11 others who also were assigned this rating. It punctuates how important perimeter shooting is in the current era of the NBA.

Next, let’s dive into shooting categories including post prowess, shot I.Q., and overall offensive consistency.
