OKC Thunder: Chris Paul contract and season grades
Highlights
There were so many highlights for Paul this year. Apart from the fact he became Mr. Clutch by scoring 140 points in the clutch which was the best number in the NBA, he was the steady hand that guided the Thunder.
There were so many times that he made the big shot at the end of the game or to change momentum going into a break. Paul had four games where he scored 30 points or more, two games where he collected ten rebounds or more, and 13 games where he had ten or more assists.
However, there are three things that happened during the season which highlights the Chris Paul we came to respect and admire. The first is he was so happy to get other players involved, he was the player who assisted Steven Adams first-ever 3-point make.
However, it is the redemption for Paul making the All-Star game for the first time in four years. His selection was all about the impact he had on the game, not about exceptional high averages. It is validation for the way that he bounced back from his time in Houston.
The other highlight which has been tremendous to see all season was his mentorship of the future of the OKC Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Thunder are going to benefit from every moment these two spend together.
