OKC Thunder: 5 second-round sleepers to look out for
Isaiah Stewart prospect preview:
Isaiah Stewart reminds me of a taller Luguentz Dort. He has a similar stature and is a staunch defender who is very proficient under the rim.
The forward who played for the Washington Huskies this past season is a high-energy guy who has shooting potential. He also studies All-Star Bam Adebayo’s game.
Scott Cacciola of the New York Times recently wrote a feature on the 19-year old’s journey which included Stewart saying that he’s the “biggest sleeper in the draft.”
Due to Washington having a tough season, finishing with a 15-17 record, there wasn’t much attention on the team or Stewart. This led to him falling in the draft order after being ranked number 3 in High School. The Ringer ranks Stewart at 30 on the Draft board while the NBA has him at 36.
Despite this, I like his confidence and think that he’ll flourish in the OKC environment. He’s determined and with the right development has the ability to turn into a dominant frontcourt player.
With Dort on the team, it may be hard to find a solidified role but it’s a consideration, right? Plus, he has met with the Thunder.
