A lot of goals for players are things like average 15.0 points or shooting the ball at more than 40 percent clip from deep.
None of these apply to Horford.
As a veteran who is coming to a young team, it is all about being a leader.
As I mentioned in the first goal, Horford needs to impart his wisdom. However, this is going to be a difficult season for the OKC Thunder.
They are going to lose a lot of games and this has an impact on the mindset of a team.
Having a strong leader who can talk to the younger guys, player to player is more important than a coach or a front office member.
When you go into battle every night with a guy and then he tells you that everything is going to be all right, that it someone you listen to.
On the court, Horford also does not take a break on any play. When he is on the hardwood, he is locked in and will not allow his teammates to slack off either. Horford is the perfect player to take over as the leader of this team from players like Paul and Steven Adams.
This young group of guys could certainly do a lot worse than looking to the way Al Horford carries himself.
