When the OKC Thunder signed Josh Hall to a two-way deal, they invested in the future. Here are three goals for his 2020-21 season.

The OKC Thunder took a long shot last year when they signed Luguentz Dort to a two-way deal. There were questions about his 3-point shooting resulting in him going undrafted. We all know how that turned out. This season the Thunder have taken another risk on their two-way deal, signing Josh Hall without him playing college ball.

As Michael Cage said during the first preseason game, Sam Presti does not make a roster move without first putting in a lot of thought. While he was talking about Frank Jackson at the time, this relates to every player on the roster including Hall.

His hit rate is pretty high with trades and draftees. There are exceptions but no general manager is perfect. What he saw in Hall is a potential future piece that cost the Thunder nothing to get. He spent his last two years at Moravian Prep school before choosing to forgo college and enter the 2020 NBA draft.

What Josh Hall brings to the OKC Thunder.

In a word, it is potential is what Hall brings to the Thunder. Standing 6’9″ he is a good height to play in the NBA but his body is not NBA ready yet. This is totally understandable considering that he is just out of high school.

Hall, while he is not the most explosive athlete, has shown good shooting range. He could slip into a stretch-four role in the coming years if he is able to bulk up, being only 190 pounds. With all that in mind, let’s look at the three goals for his 2020-21 season.
