Pokusevski records first OKC Thunder and NBA points
If Tuesday night’s game taught us anything, it’s that Aleksej Pokusevski might be one of the most determined players to wear an OKC Thunder uniform.
Pokusevski went into the game against the Magic having shot 0-for-8 from the field in two games and still seeking the first points of his NBA career.
Despite the shaky start to his NBA career, Pokusevski wasn’t deterred and proceeded to take the shots he was given and make the most out of them.
Eventually, he was rewarded.
The first make of his NBA career came with 47 seconds remaining in the third quarter. After driving for a layup, which he missed, Pokusevski fielded his own rebound and tipped the ball back up and into the bucket.
The goal ended up being his only of the game with Pokusevski finishing 1-for-8 with two points, six rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
The plus side is Pokusevski still has time, and given the opportunity, there’s a lot of upside to the young power forward. He’s exceptionally quick for his size, he shows potential defensively having blocked at least one shot in each of the first three games and he’s shown a willingness to battle through adversity.
Pokusevski will not be an overnight sensation, but there’s no reason to believe he won’t someday be an essential playmaker for the OKC Thunder.
