OKC Thunder hang on for win, Bazely breaks out in 3 takeaways
By Ryan Lewis
No sophomore slump for Bazley with OKC Thunder
Since an opening night 15-point performance in the Thunder’s 109-107 win over the Charlotte Hornets, Bazley has struggled both with his shot and ball protection.
Against the Utah Jazz, Bazley scored nine points and turned the ball over three times. In the Thunder’s first game with the Magic, he scored just six points while turning the ball over two times. Against the New Orleans Pelicans, he scored seven points and turned the ball over four times.
Needless to say, he was struggling. Although his performances on the court never lacked hustle and determination, the shots just weren’t falling for the second-year player.
But things began to click for Bazley in the Thunder’s second game against the Magic. “Bubble Bazley” returned and restored fans’ faith in his capabilities, even if only for one night.
Bazley was one of four Thunder players to find success two or more times from 3-point range. And while his two 3-pointers hyped teammates and fans alike, one moment punctuated Bazley’s night more than any other.

Bazley, simply put, was dominant.
His shot fell, consistently, and when he wasn’t knocking them down, he was pulling down rebounds and setting up teammates for similar success. Bazley was energetic, confident, and downright fun to watch.
Five games into the season, Bazley has battled his fair share of ups and downs. His performance against the Magic makes his previous three games feel more like small speedbumps in what will otherwise be a big season.
Bazley can shoot, he can drive and he can create opportunities for himself and others.
The keys to this team might be in the hands of SGA, but Bazley and Luguentz Dort are crammed into the front seat right next to him.
