OKC Thunder: 5 keys to beating the Lakers
OKC Thunder chalkboard note 2: Veterans will look to impress
While there is ample banter about the veterans on the Thunder they’ve each raised their level of professionalism and performance in spite of the Thunder looking to rebuild. They are intelligent enough to recognize the better they play early the more likely they are to land on a title-chasing club by the trade deadline.
We can debate which team is the most likely to challenge to upset the Lakers in the West and perhaps the Clippers, Mavericks, Nuggets, Blazers, Warriors, Jazz, or another could be that team.
But, what can’t be debated is virtually every veteran on a projected lottery team would cite the Lakers as their top choice to be traded to.
As such, expect to witness George Hill and Al Horford come with effort, and don’t be surprised if the box score is fuller than usual for the pair at night’s end.
Ironically the two positions the Lakers may want to bolster could be the ones occupied by Schroder and Montrezl Harrell Which means Hill and Horford will be intriguing options for LA. Both offer ample playoff experience, the ability to play both ends, and can hit those essential 3-point shots.
Although the Lakers might not have much to send back in return or assets the Thunder covet there is always the potential for multi-team deals and as we’ve learned when LeBron wants something (or someone) his executive tends to go get it for him.
