Trade No. 2) Denver gets Beal, Wizards get picks galore, OKC lands SGA sidekick

About a month ago, Bleacher Report suggested that it may be in the best interest for the OKC Thunder to look into cashing in on some of their draft assets — which, as you know, they have a treasure trove of — in an effort to bring on an already established player to serve as a partner in crime alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Today, we see them land such a player in third-year forward Michael Porter Jr..

After sitting out the entirety of his rookie campaign due to recovery from back surgery, the young forward broke onto the scene in 2019-20, averaging 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds on 51 percent shooting from the floor and 42 percent shooting from deep in predominantly a reserve role.

Now, through the early stages of 2020-21, Porter Jr. is taking even greater strides towards stardom as he is boasting averages of 18.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and a block per game on 55 percent shooting from the floor and 48 percent shooting from deep.

In short: MPJ is a rising star and the OKC Thunder should strongly consider dealing some of their draft capital (potential total of 16 first-rounders over next seven seasons) to bring him aboard and run alongside SGA for years to come.

For the Washington Wizards, they wind up getting the young 7-2 wunderkind, Bol Bol from the Nuggets alongside guard Gary Harris, 20-year-old forward Darius Bazley from the OKC Thunder, and a total of 4 first-round picks (2 from each team).

Giving up Bradley Beal obviously would lead to a full out rebuild for the Washington Wizards, and adding guys like Bol and Beazley along with ample draft capital would give them a great starting point whilst embarking on such a journey.

And, of course, the prized jewel is Bradley Beal, whom the Nuggets land in this exchange to formulate an absolutely menacing big-3 alongside Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic in an effort to better position themselves to get past the Western Conference Finals hump they were halted at last season and, in turn, better combat the star power that the likes of the Lakers and Clippers possess within their same conference.

It’s a big move for all three parties: OKC gets promising young partner to slot next to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for years to come, the Denver Nuggets get their third star to help in the now, and the Washington Wizards commit to a deeply needed rebuild.
