OKC Thunder key no. 2- Theo Maledon versus Anthony Edwards

The Wolves selected Anthony Edwards with the top pick in this year’s draft. He recently moved into the starting rotation due to the numerous injuries on the Wolves.

Likewise, Theo Maledon moved into the starting rotation five games ago with George Hill out.

Both squads could be missing their main guards as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Hill are out for OKC and D’Angelo Russell is a game-time decision.

For Maledon, this is a great opportunity to show off his skills and send a message to the 29 Thunder opponents that missed the mark in his eyes by letting him slip to the 34th pick in the second round.

Maledon is averaging 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 steal. Comparatively, in the five games the rookie has started he’s upped those averages to 11.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.0 steals.

Comparatively,  Edwards is averaging 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists but he’s struggling with his efficiency shooting only 37.6 from the field and 33.3 percent from the perimeter.

In four games he’s started Edwards is averaging 12.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.

Logically it will take both players time to integrate and grow but it wouldn’t be surprising if Maledon sends a message to the Wolves by having a big night since the spotlight will be Edwards.
