Former OKC Thunder defensive specialist Andre Roberson has found a home with the Brooklyn Nets.

Long beloved by the Thunder fan base many pulled for Roberson as he went through the trials and tribulations of a long road back from rupturing his patellar tendon and the subsequent injuries that arose while he went through the process.

Last season when the team resumed play at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida Roberson joined the club. ARob displayed an improved stroke from the floor, particularly from deep.

Although few members of last season’s roster had played with Roberson during his career in OKC they all cheered for him in the few games he appeared and for every bucket he made.

Several of his new teammates spoke glowingly of his demeanor and his brilliance when it came to the defensive side of the hardwood.

Former OKC Thunder favorite Andre Roberson signs with Nets

On Monday, The Athletic Shams Charania reported Roberson will sign a non-guaranteed contract with the Brooklyn Nets and former teammate Kevin Durant.

Thunder fans will be pulling for the player with the infectious smile to break into the rotation and succeed in Brooklyn.

Per Charania, the Colorado alum signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Nets who waived Norvel Pelle to create space on the roster.

The defensive savant was the 26th pick in the 2013 draft being moved several times prior to arriving in OKC. The actual pick used to select him moved from the Grizzlies to the Rockets, then to the Wolves who selected Roberson.

He was then traded by Minnesota to the Warriors who subsequently traded him to OKC for Archie Goodwin and cash considerations.

More from Thunderous Intentions

ARob quickly became a fan favorite with his dedication to the defensive end and was an integral part of the starting rotation during the  Durant – Westbrook era. In his fifth season with the Thunder, he suffered the horrific knee injury in Detroit during his 39th game.

Everyone in Thunder Nation was pulling for a speedy return but Roberson kept hitting walls or reinjuring himself as he battled to make a comeback.

The pandemic offered him the opportunity to return to the court. Few moments in franchise history have felt as pure or heartwarming as witnessing Andre Roberson walk onto the court, hit a 3-pointer, and turn to the camera flashing his trademark grin.

Reunited with Durant, Roberson offers something the Nets are in desperate need of — an elite defender.

With so many weapons on the Nets, this may be the perfect landing spot for Roberson as well as the ideal squad for him to make a positive and immediate impact.

Here’s wishing Andre well in Brooklyn.
