OKC Thunder: NBA Power Rankings week 10 – All-Star break edition
Memphis Grizzlies:
Week 10: 2-2
Won vs: Clippers 122-94, Rockets 133-84
Lost to: Mavericks 92-102, Clippers 99-119
Opponents this week: Wizards, Bucks
Offensive Rating: 110.3 (19th) | Defensive Rating: 109.8 (8th) | Net Differential: +0.5 (14th)
No team saw a greater shift on the key statistical rating stats board this past week than the Grizzlies. Clearly, their numbers were augmented by the 49 point differential achieved on Sunday versus the Rockets.
That differential flipped the Grizzlies from a negative net to a positive differential while also pushing them from11th to eighth on the defensive ladder rating.
It was a week of record-setting overall. The 49 point differential and 85 bench points versus the Rockets were both franchise highs. But their win versus the Clippers was arguably more important and featured franchise highs in the area Memphis is dominating this season.
In the 122-94 victory, Memphis scored 72 points in the paint (another franchise-high). The Grizzlies rank first overall in this area averaging 55.3 paint points per game.
The other major news for Memphis is Justise Winslow finally made his debut last week and played in three of the four matches in week 10 busting out with 20 points in the win versus Houston.
With the second-half schedule about to begin the Grizzlies should also be getting Jaren Jackson Jr. back soon. His presence will afford coach Taylor Jenkins versatility in how the Grizzlies elect to matchup versus opponents with the option of using JJJ beside Jonas Valanciunas or splitting them to starter and reserve lineups. Few teams have the personnel to navigate adjusting to those two different types of big men.
