Draymond Green finished week nine by getting ejected and likely cost the Warriors a shot of winning in Charlotte. While Green said all the right things in media sessions it was his actions on the court this past week that resonated. To wit, it was his best individual performance since the Dubs were ruling the NBA winning over 70 games a season.
Through three games (he left the Lakers game early with an ankle injury) Green averaged a double-double of 10 points and 14 assists plus 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks. The highlight coming in the rematch versus that same Hornets team as he dished a career-high 19 assists.
His presence is also a key reason for the Dubs’ resurgence defensively.
Moving forward, the big question is whether Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr. can hit above league average from the perimeter. Wiggins began the year on fire shooting 40.6 percent on 5.1 attempts but in February shot 27.3 percent. In direct contrast, Oubre opened the season shooting 22.8 percent but in the month of February is shooting 43 percent on 5.7 attempts per game.
If the pair can manage to both get hot simultaneously it will open the floor for Steph and make the Warriors extremely dangerous given their top-five rated defense.
