OKC Thunder trade partner No. 3) Boston Celtics

Lastly, we see the idea of the Boston Celtics being a prime suitor to trade for Al Horford.

Essentially since he left the franchise in free agency two offseasons ago, the Cs have struggled mightily down low. Sure they’ve experimented with guys like Daniel Theis, Enes Kanter, and now Tristan Thompson but, ultimately, nothing has really worked for this championship-hopeful squad.

Now, as we enter the second half of the season, the Celtics are viewed as one of the most underwhelming teams in the league and are reportedly looking into making moves.

Considering they are in possession of a $28.5 million TPE, perhaps bringing on Horford’s salary by such means could be a move worth considering if you’re Danny Ainge.

The center was an All-Star when playing within this same Celtics scheme and, through three seasons, posted 13.5 points, seven rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game on 50 percent shooting from the floor and 38 percent shooting from deep.

Despite now being two years older than when he last played for the franchise, his production has been relatively the same, as he’s finding himself averaging 14 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and just shy of a block on 36 percent shooting from deep.

At this point in the season, and considering how underwhelming they’ve been virtually all season, it seems to be desperation time for the shamrocks.

Because of this, perhaps bringing in a familiar face like Al Horford to help improve their weakest position might not be such a bad idea.
