As we approach the NBA Trade Deadline, the expectation is that the rumor mill will start to spin even faster, with the OKC Thunder being a franchise linked often to many different players and teams attached to the block.

Of late, perhaps the team found most frequently intertwined with Oklahoma City heading towards March 25th is the Boston Celtics who, though they came into 2020-21 with high expectations, have managed to underwhelm greatly through the first half of action.

With this, desperation calls, which means they could potentially be more inclined than usual to part ways with young and talented assets, something that this rebuilding Thunder team could only benefit from adding more of.

Over the past few months, we’ve seen many different hypothetical trade packages between the Cs and OKC be concocted, with some being more preferred than others.

Recently NBA Analysis Network jumped into the mix and proposed a trade between the two franchises that we at TI believe would be a solid move for Sam Presti and co. to consider making.

The specific trade:

NAN proposes OKC Thunder trade centered around George Hill heading to Boston

When discussing why this trade works well for the OKC Thunder, writer Michael Balko cites the team’s rebuilding agenda coupled with their desire to add on “fresh legs” to the rotation as the main reasons for why Presti should consider such a move:

"The Thunder has seen some great emergence from Luguentz Dort and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander; and they could look to add a pair of youthful talent to add some depth to the team.Let’s be realistic, the OKC Thunder will likely need a couple more years before they’ll be playoff contenders again, but adding some great depth in Carsen Edwards and Romeo Langford is a great step in the right direction."

For those of you familiar with our work, you likely already know that we’ve been big on the idea of the Thunder pursuing actual players rather than draft picks in their potential dealings this season, and have even brought up our interest in potentially targeting Langford in a potential trade with the shamrocks, citing his build and flashes of potential both in college and during his rookie season as reasons for our intrigue:

"The sophomore wing, though finding himself in and out of the G-League during his rookie season and has not played a single minute in 2020-21 due to injury, has shown to be an intriguing two-way player who has shown flashes of being a lockdown defender and has showcased solid distribution and scoring skills during his short tenure with the Cs.During his one-and-done season at Indiana University back in 2018-19, Langford posted 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 45 percent shooting from the field, while playing the majority of his campaign with a broken thumb that required offseason surgery. At just 21-years-old he fits the timeline that this current rebuilding OKC squad is on, while his size (6-4, 6-10.5 wingspan) and two-way skillset is the exact mold that Presti is seemingly infatuated with."

Add in the fact that, in this proposed deal, we see Presti bringing along both Carsen Edwards — another collegiate standout also in his second year — and a pick, and the only question we have left to ask is “where can we sign up!?”
