Trade idea No. 2) Celtics land Horford and, in another trade, land 2 seconds in exchange for Romeeo Langford

Part One:

Part Two:

This specific scenario is a bit complex, as a two-part trade package would have to be agreed upon in order for it to take place.

Because of the tricky rules of using a TPE, a trade involving it can only include either draft capital or a specific amount of money coming in return should a player (only one would be allowed) be shipped out.

So, here we see the Boston Celtics getting Horford who, in our last slide, we discussed how he’d be a clear upgrade over what they have at the pivot now and, with his proven track record in this exact scheme coupled with his current level of play, he should be a relative lock to be a high-impact player.

In exchange, the Thunder get Charlotte’s 2022 second-round pick.

Now, the second part of this deal includes the big grab for Oklahoma City, as they bring on the likes of sophomore wing Romeo Langford in exchange for the rights to Washington’s 2023 second-round pick and Dallas’s 2026 second-round pick.

Langford is a player we at the site have discussed as a potential trade target for the OKC Thunder quite a few times in the past.

Though he found himself in and out of the G-League for the majority of his rookie season and has not played a single minute in 2020-21 due to recovery from offseason surgery on his right wrist, the 21-year-old has shown to be an intriguing two-way wing who has shown flashes of being a lockdown defender and has shown solid distribution and scoring skills during his short NBA tenure.

During his one-and-done season at Indiana University back in 2018-19, Langford posted 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 45 percent shooting from the field, while playing the majority of his campaign with a broken thumb that required offseason surgery.

His specific skill set coupled with his impressive size (6-4 with a 6-11 wingspan) is exactly what Presti loves to have on his roster and, with the fact that he’s not even two years removed from being considered worthy of a lottery selection, the idea of bringing him to this highly touted developmental coaching staff should be an intriguing thought for both the fans and the front office.
