The ‘resiliency’ era OKC Thunder sure is living up to their name. On Sunday, Mark Daigneault started two rookies, two sophomores, and a two-way contracted player.

Defying the odds this young crew rose up to beat the Rockets delivering their 20th consecutive loss. It’s a common trait of this team that is supposed to be tanking but the DNA runs deep on this club. With the victory, the Thunder moves to 18-24.

Luguentz Dort led the way for the young Thunder both offensively with 23 points and defensively punctuated by a massive block on John Wall at game end.

With the win, that young lineup earned a spot in NBA history becoming the youngest starting group to win an NBA game.

Injuries:

Over the past few games, the injury list has vacillated from game to game. On Sunday that included Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sitting again with a sore shoulder and Al Horford out for load management.

While Horford presumably will be back tonight that’s not guaranteed since he sat him in back-to-back games on March 14th and 16th.

More from Thunderous Intentions

Thunder:

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander missed Sunday’s match with a sore shoulder.
  • Darius Bazley has missed six games with a shoulder contusion and is listed as day-to-day.
  • George Hill (thumb) won’t likely play this week with the trade deadline on Thursday (keep him healthy).
  • Josh Hall is day-to-day with a sore knee.
  • Meyers Leonard is not with the team.

Timberwolves:

  • Jarrett Culver is nursing a toe injury that makes his participation on Monday questionable.
  • Malik Beasley is serving a suspension that will keep him out Monday.
  • Jordan McLaughlin is out dealing with health and safety protocols and won’t play Monday.
  • D’Angelo Russell remains out healing from surgery to his leg. His expected timeline for rehab was four to six weeks equating to an end of March return if he remains on schedule.

History:

All-time, the Thunder and Wolves have played each other 123 times in the regular-season play.  OKC holds the edge winning 86 of those contests. Last season, the teams played three times with the Thunder sweeping the series.

This is the third and final match between the clubs this season. The prior games were played on consecutive scheduled games with the Wolves winning the February 5th match 106-103 while the Thunder won the February 6th contest 120-118.
