OKC Thunder: Power Rankings all teams at the trade deadline
Atlanta Hawks: Buy, Sell, yoyo
Week 13: 3-0
Offense: (113.3) 11th
Defense: (111.5) 18th
Net: (Plus +1.8) 9th
.It’s no secret Intentions has valued the Hawks’ power forward going way back to the start of the season. While he fits the timeline the reality is it would be a much wiser move to wait for the offseason and make an offer sheet since the OKC Thunder will have salary cap and force the Hawks to match.
The rumor mill on Collins has been all over the map with the Hawks looking to trade him, Collins wanting to leave, and then both seemingly walking back on their stance. Several teams are keen to grab the talented youngster as Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer notes:
"League sources say Atlanta is receiving significant trade interest for John Collins from the Celtics, Kings, Mavericks, Pistons, and Timberwolves. The Hawks want one young player and a first-round draft pick to make a deal, or a package of similar value such as multiple first-round picks. For example, league sources say Atlanta wanted Malik Beasley and a first from Minnesota, but the Wolves declined."
But winning eight in a row has a tendency to switch the narrative and overall atmosphere quickly. The odd part of the Hawks equation is they were mired in mediocrity with so many of their new additions out injured that it was hard to get a feel for the team and their chemistry.
Yet, just as the Hawks started winning, now they are apparently shifting off some of the new assets like Bogdan Bogdanovic and have interest in several others like Victor Oladipo and Norman Powell
Cam Reddish is also said to be available and is an intriguing talent for a club who (perhaps the Rockets for Oladipo or Raptors for Powell) would benefit from giving him time to develop.
