Coby Altman had more than a season to find a trade partner for Andre Drummond and/or Kevin Love and couldn’t get it done. It seems increasingly likely he’ll end up having to buy out Drummond and retain Love and his lengthy contract.
Altman has drafted well with the young backcourt and added a compelling big man in Jarrett Allen that fits the Cav’s timeline.
Yet, the fact he couldn’t find a trade partner for Drummond speaks to an issue in Cleveland. Is Altman running the show or Dan Gilbert?
The one big who could end up getting traded is JaVale McGee who is on a much more friendly contract and would be a helpful asset for a contending club.
