Al Horford trade destination No. 2) Boston Celtics

Frankly, we believed that the Boston Celtics would have been a great landing spot at this year’s deadline due to their obvious need for a talent upgrade in the frontcourt and the fact that Horford is already familiar with their scheme, having spent three successful seasons of his career with the franchise from 2016-19.

Now, with the fact that they essentially did nothing to address said weakness within the rotations — Moritz Wagner and Luke Kornet are the best you could do for a championship-aspiring team? — we still feel as though a move for Horford could be in their best interest if they can find a way to make the money work.

Like we said, the big man spent three seasons of his career with the shamrocks. During this time, he managed to snag himself his fifth All-Star appearance and boasted per-game averages of 13.5 points, seven boards, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks on 50 percent shooting from the floor and 38 percent shooting from deep.

Familiarity is key with this potential destination this offseason and, with the fact that their own superstar Jayson Tatum has publicly anointed Horford as being ‘one of my favorite teammates’, perhaps another incentive to pursuing the veteran is to keep their franchise cornerstone happy after such a disappointing season.
