OKC Thunder: 2 free agents worth throwing major money at
By Mark Nilon
OKC Thunder free agent target No. 2) John Collins
John Collins is a player that we at Thunderous Intentions have talked about quite often in the past and, truth be told, we believe a solid draft coupled with him coming to the Sooner State would simply make for a perfect offseason for the OKC Thunder.
A multi-talented big man, the 23-year-old could prove to be a fantastic sidekick/ 1B option for SGA for years to come, as he possesses the floor spacing abilities that we were praising Markkanen for having in the previous slide, while also seemingly having a much higher ceiling in regard to all-around potential.
JC obviously has the skillset to play the four, which is his current position, but with his measurements of 6-9 and 235 pounds with a 6-11 wingspan, the Wake Forest product has the size to log minutes at the five if need be as well, should they want to shift to more of a modern five-out lineup on offense.
Through 47 outings played this season, Collins is finding himself posting stellar per-game averages of 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and a block on 56 percent shooting from the floor and 38 percent shooting from deep.
He’d be a huge part of the offense with Theo Maledon and SGA looking for him, while his offensive rebounding abilities would allow for more second-chance points and his sound rim-protecting skills would be of great value to their 20th ranked blocks per game OKC team.
